The Mat

Natural rubber, a polyurethane top that stays with you when the room gets honest. Quiet marks — four corners, a midline, two hip gates — enough to land, not a diagram of someone else’s class. One hundred twenty-eight dollars. We do not put it on sale. It is made to last through the practice, not the season in the window.
The mat is where you come back. If it went on sale in November, it would stop being a place and start being a wait. The season lives in the towel. Care lives in the cleaner. The mat stays still.

The Mat, and this season’s Grip Towel — cut to the same silhouette, faced with the same wet-grip, so it does not bunch at the knees or skate in plank. One hundred sixty-eight. The towel is on the floor the day the mat arrives.
A bath towel on a yoga mat is a small daily argument. This one was cut for this surface. Hawthorn and Smoke, while the light is low; Sand, if you want the mat to agree with itself.
